As we welcome in the New Year, we would like to remind you of changes to Washington State sales tax rates that took effect on January 1, 2026.
As noted in recent notifications from the Washington Department of Revenue, several cities and counties—including all of King County—have approved changes that may affect the sales tax rates you must charge, collect, and remit.
You can lookup the rates and see the rate changes at this link – https://dor.wa.gov/taxes-
What this means for your business:
- Point-of-sale systems, invoicing software, and e-commerce platforms may need to be updated.
- Businesses with multiple locations or delivery-based sales should verify rates by destination.
- Incorrect rates can result in under- or over-collection, increasing audit and compliance risk.
We recommend reviewing your current sales tax settings and confirming that all applicable rates are updated.
Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions.
Warm regards,
The Akopyan Group
Thank you!
